A Lubbock museum will participate in a worldwide day of play for kids.

The Buddy Holly Center will host a Sock Hop, allowing kids of all ages and their families to learn the top dances from the 1950s on October 6th.

The event is part of Nickelodeon’s 9th annual Worldwide Day of Play, which is a day dedicated to “living a healthy and active lifestyle,” according to a press release.

Each year, the television station Nick goes dark on their stations from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the Day of Play, and this year, the Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department is taking part for the first time.

The event will run from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th. The cost is $3 per person and $5 for couples.

The Buddy Holly Center is located at 1801 Crickets Avenue.
