In a previous post I wrote an overview of "Dead Man’s Walk" which is chronologically the first book in the Lonesome Dove series. The second book in the storyline is “Comanche Moon.”

The tale of Comanche Moon takes place roughly in the 1850s through the 1860s, when Augustus “Gus” McRae and Woodrow Call are well into their years of service in the Texas Rangers. The book introduces many fascinating new characters, and bridges the time between Dead Man’s Walk and Lonesome Dove with an excellent story.

Just as Dead Man’s Walk did, Comanche Moon continues explaining events and characters in the series.

Comanche Moon is a wonderful book, and I’ve had more than one friend who has told me that it is their favorite book in the Lonesome Dove series.
