Body Found Floating in Playa Lake Identified

Lubbock police have not yet said whether foul play is suspected in the death of a man whose body was found floating in a playa lake beside apartments Monday morning.

The Lubbock County Medical Examiner has identified the body as Joe Wayne Reynolds Jr. of Cotton Center. Reynolds’ family said he had been missing since Sunday.

A resident of the Stonelake Apartments in the 7400 Block of Elgin Avenue found Reynolds in the lake around 11 a.m. Monday. Lubbock Police sent in a dive team to retrieve Reynolds' body.

No word yet on the cause of death. We will update the story as developments warrant.
