A City of Lubbock board is looking into partnerships with the county to help operate a particular department.

At Wednesday morning's Lubbock City Council meeting, Dr. Steve Presley, chairman of the City of Lubbock Board of Health presented a report from the board regarding the possibility of a City-County Health Department, as opposed to the Health Department being solely operated by the City as it currently stands.

Presley noted that he has met with County Judge Tom Head, who attended the November 18th board meeting. Head was reportedly “amenable, and said that even though their budget was already spoken for over the next year, that they would be glad to have the discussion, and see where it takes us.”

The City Council directed Presley to appoint a subcommittee to begin diplomatic initiatives with the County regarding the issue.
