Tuesday on Lubbock's First News, Tom and Laura spoke with Mary Saathoff, President and CEO of the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra (LSO), about the upcoming Blues to Beethoven that will feature work by George Gershwin and Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Blues to Beethoven event will take place from October 25 to October 26 at 7:30 pm. The performance will be led by Maestro Cho, with guest pianist Jason Hardink. Four works will be featured: An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue by American composer George Gershwin, as well as Leonore Overturn No. 3 and Symphony No. 5, Op. 67, C Minor by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Saathoff said, "Rhapsody in Blue is Gershwin's most famous piece... We are decking out the Civic Center. We're going to have a blue carpet, so when you come in you arrive on the blue carpet. We're going to have paparazzi taking your pictures... It's real Hollywood."

For tickets, call the symphony office at 806-762-1688 (or visit at 601 Avenue K). They can also be purchased online through the LSO website.
