Big Tex Goes Up in Flames and the Parody Videos Begin [VIDEO]

Big Tex, the icon of the Texas State Fair, burned down today in Dallas where he was resided for 6o years. Thanks to Generation YouTube, a slew of videos mocking the burning with sad songs or pairing the burning to tragedies in history have popped up online, like the video seen above.

The Dallas Morning News reported on Friday afternoon that a short in the boot of Big Tex was the cause of the fire. The dispatcher said to firefighters on the radio,  "Got a rather tall cowboy with all his clothes burned off."

Another video paired the images of Big Tex burning with audio coverage of the Hindenburg blimp crashing in New Jersey.
