Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, guest host and long time Lubbock radio personality Paul R. Beane was joined by the former traffic Sergeant of the Lubbock Police Department, Ronnie Sowell to discuss the issue of bicycles mixing with motor vehicles on roadways.

Sowell and Beane talked about the fact that bicyclists are bound by the same rules and traffic laws that operators of motor vehicles must follow, and what often results from an incident involving both vehicle types, no matter which operator is at fault.

"When you have a full-blown vehicle and a cyclist that run together, the cyclist is always going to come out on the short end of the stick," Sowell said, then continued, saying, "All too often those types of crashes lead to severe injury, and unfortunately, death."
