A Texas Tech baseball player has been placed well in a publication’s top 100 list.

Junior center fielder Barrett Barnes has been ranked 19th in College Baseball Daily’s Preseason Top 100 Players list. Barnes joins Red Raider All-American pitcher John Neely, who is ranked 88th.

This is the second consecutive year Barnes has been named to the list, ranking 32nd in the preseason list prior to his sophomore season. He has also been named All-Big 12 second team twice, as well as receiving the Big 12 Freshman of the Year award in 2010.

Barnes batted .290 with 47 runs, 15 doubles, 10 home runs, and 41 RBI during 2011. He is also the fastest Red Raider to achieve 100 base hits since Roger Kieschnick.
