Lubbock residents can now grill in city parks without facing a hefty fine. The Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department lifted the ban on fuel-driven electrical generators in city parks today as well. The department reminds residents they should still take care when grilling in parks, disposing of charcoal and trash carefully, and making sure fires are completely extinguished before leaving. Campfires are not allowed in any City park.

Grilling in public parks was banned last year during sweeping burn bans across the State. Severe drought made many activities dangerous because of the high risk for fires.
