B-17 Sentimental Journey In Lubbock to Benefit South Plains Honor Flight
The B-17 Bomber "Sentimental Journey" is at the Silent Wings Museum at the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport, and is helping to benefit area veterans.
Hour-long flights on the plane are being offered for $425, and proceeds go to benefit the inaugural South Plains Honor Flight.
The South Plains Honor Flight is an all-expenses paid trip for some U.S. military veterans to see the monuments to their efforts in Washington D.C. on October 2nd through the 4th.
Volunteers are working to raise $200,000 for the organization, which is what is needed to underwrite the event.
"Sentimental Journey" is the most fully-restored B-17 available, out of the five that are still flying.
Rides on the plane can be reserved by calling 681-3596, and "Sentimental Journey" will be in Lubbock through Thursday.
