On Monday, February 1, the Lubbock County Medical Examiner’s Office released new information concerning the death of Andrew Stover.

A week ago, Stover was found dead in a northwest Lubbock residence that had suffered substantial fire damage.

The Medical Examiner's Office had ruled Stover’s death a suicide. Evidence was found that Stover took his own life by shooting himself in the head.

Hours after the M-E’s findings were released, the Stover family issued a statement saying they don’t believe Andrew committed suicide.

The Stover family statement went on to say that they believed Andrew was the victim of an organized crime murder.

The family believes the murder was setup in the midst of an ugly custody battle for a child fathered by Andrew and a woman from Amarillo.

The Stover family has asked for police and arson investigators to conduct a full investigation, and that a second autopsy be conducted on Andrew from authorities outside of Lubbock or Amarillo.
