Lubbock Police are investigating the hanging of a banner with Arabic writing on one of the faces of Citizens Tower, in downtown Lubbock.

The writing translated to “love for everyone” and a red heart was depicted on the banner underneath the text.

Mayor Glen Robertson directed city staff to swiftly remove the banner and notify multiple law enforcement agencies including the FBI, Department of Homeland Security and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Department of the situation.

The Citizens Tower is currently vacant but pending a complete interior rebuild will become the new City Hall.

KAMC News reports that Mayor Robertson also directed Lubbock Police to take whatever steps are necessary to secure Citizens Tower from future vandalism.
