On Wednesday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show, Executive Director Jana Hunter and Julie Doss joined Chad in the KFYO studio to talk about this weekend's Komen West Texas Lubbock Race for the Cure event.

The annual gathering begins Saturday October 7, 2017 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center with survivor pictures at 8:45 AM, and many activities to follow, including timed and other races, activities for the children, and much more.

Speaking about some history of the race, and how attitudes have changed since it's inception, Hunter said,

The Komen Foundation began with a race in 1980. And back then, as they advertised for the race, they couldn't say "breast cancer" in the media, you couldn't say "breast cancer" in public.
