Americans Are Getting Fatter, FOX News Takes On Media Matters, and More In Chad’s Steaming Pile

Here are just a few things in Chad’s Pile that you will hear on Lubbock’s First News this morning. Give Chad your feedback on the steaming topics.

1. LFN Roadshow at Reese Golf

Come out and join LFN this morning at Reese Golf. New laws will be coming to Texas, we will tell you what they are. We will also have a 3rd mic set up so you can come out and sound off on the issues. Of course we will also have a lot of fun out at Reese. Come on out and say hello and have some breakfast.

2. Americans are getting fatter (link)

This isn’t a shocking, but the number of U.S. adults that are obese has risen in 16 states in the last year. According to Reuters, that means that in a dozen states, the obesity level is above 30%. Taking the top prize for fattest state is Mississippi while the least fat is Colorado. The number of adults who are in denial about how fat they are still stands at 95%.

3. FOX vs. Media Matters (link)

FOX News is taking on Media Matters and according to Politico it’s because back in March the founder of Media Matters, David Brock, said the groups strategy was basically a war on FOX. According to Politico, in the past 10 days FOX has run more than 30 stories calling for Media Matters to be stripped of it’s tax-exempt status.

FOX may be correct in that Media Matters should lose their tax-exempt status, but with the current administration in charge, they have no chance of winning that battle. In my personal opinion, FOX News should just leave Media Matters alone. Why elevate them? Let Hannity, O’Reilly, and others do the dirty work against them.

These and many more topics coming up on Friday’s edition of Lubbock’s First News with Chad Hasty. Tune in mornings 6-9am on News/Talk 790 KFYO, streaming online at, and now on your iPhone and Android device with the radioPup App.
