A commerical passenger flight from California diverted to Amarillo, TX late Tuesday night en route to Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport.

American Airlines Flight 1498 from Santa Ana, CA experienced mechanical troubles and airport officials said nobody was hurt.

A spokesman for Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport says the pilot of the Boeing 737 reported one of the two engines failing and had to divert to Amarillo.

An American spokesman said Wednesday that the jet, which 160 passengers and a crew of six, landed without incident and taxied to the gate.

The flight left Amarillo on Tuesday night around 11:23 p.m. and arrived at DFW at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday morning.
