Two wrecks on Sunday evening resulted in the death of a Lubbock woman.

Twenty-seven year-old Alyssa Nichole Dennis was involved in a collision in the 4500 block of West Loop 289 just before 10 p.m. Sunday, March 16th.

The 1996 Toyota sedan driven by Dennis was upside down on its roof from the first collision, when a 2005 Toyota Tundra, driven by a 26-year-old man, crashed into Dennis.

According to Lubbock Police, Dennis was trying to get out of the vehicle at the time, and police say that the driver of the pickup failed to control speed, which resulted in the wreck.

Dennis was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS at 10 p.m. The driver of the pickup was taken to Covenant Medical Center by personal vehicle, but no injuries have been reported.

Lubbock Police say that alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the second wreck. No word yet on the first collision.
