Thursday on Lubbock's First News, Vik Baliga, Lubbock County Extension Agent in Horticulture for the AgriLife Research & Extension Center, talked about the implementation of the new position of Horticulture Agent in the program.

The position was set up to focus on water conservation education and practices after the the need for greater public knowledge on the issue became prevalent. Water conservation practices include how to take care of lawns and how to landscape using less water. Baliga said, "My job is to answer your questions as the public. We are really here as education... Anything horticulture related, anything plant related in the city." Baliga also oversees the Lubbock Master Gardner Association.
