A popular restaurant in the Hub City will be opening another location in Lubbock with a different concept.

Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurants will open their new Abuelo’s Taqueria, which will feature fresh Mexican creations served in a contemporary fast-casual environment.

According to a press release, the new restaurant will offer a variety of meats and seafood, salads, sauces, and salsas, as well beer and margaritas.

“Our traditional Abuelo’s restaurants have earned a reputation for extraordinary Mexican specialties that raise the bar of Mexican food,” said Robert Lin, president of Food Concepts International.

“Abuelo’s Taqueria offers us a way to further express our passion for food in a distinctively different way, while at the same time giving our guests the same quality they have come to expect from Abuelo’s.”

The new restaurant will feature more casual service, with “menu items and pricing that are conducive to frequent dining and convenience,” according to the press release.

Abuelo’s Taqueria is expected to open at 19th Street and Quaker Avenue in late October.

Abuelo’s first opened in 1989, and is owned by Food Concepts International of Lubbock, which has 41 restaurants in 15 states throughout the country.
