Abernathy Man Jailed on Murder and Assault Charges

An 18-year-old Abernathy man has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault after neighborhood shooting between two feuding families.

Samuel Anthony Cisneros was held in the Hale County jail after the fatal shooting of 53-year-old Asuncion Loredo and the  wounding of 30-year-old Jose Ruben Perez. The shooting took place early Sunday at 106 East 5th St. in Abernathy. The wounded Perez was taken to University Medical Center where he was reported later in serious but stable condition.

Cisneros’ mother Maria Arreola said her son took matters into his own hands to deal with threats against their family.The Lubbock SWAT team and the Abernathy Police Department responded to the incident.
