AAA reports that the average gas price in Texas has increased to $2.43 per gallon of regular unleaded fuel, a five cent increase from last week but remains $1.02 per gallon less than last year.

Drivers in El Paso and Dallas are paying the highest on average within the state at $2.49 per gallon, as drivers in Beaumont are paying the lowest at $2.35 per gallon. A national trend shows an increasing average gas price in the spring season and during warmer weather. Prices are expected to rise within the next few weeks. However, the national and statewide averages are not expected to exceed $3 per gallon throughout the remainder of the year, according to AAA.

The national average is currently $2.65 per gallon, 22 cents more than the statewide average.
