Hundreds of protesters are expected to show up Thursday night outside the Texas Governor's Mansion in Austin for a LGBT dance party meant to protest the Texas Bathroom Bill and other legislation that activists claim would impact LGBT rights.

According to the Dallas Morning News, a so-called "Queer Dance Freakout" is scheduled for Thursday night outside of the Governor's Mansion and is meant to be a way to be seen and heard. So far, more than 350 people on Facebook have indicated that they will attend the protest/dance party Thursday.

Protesters told the Dallas Morning News that they have been in contact with the State regarding the dance party:

Jeremy von Stilb, an Austin activist, said the organizers have been working with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the State Preservation Board (which protects historic sites like the governor's mansion) ahead of the event.

And while protesters may hope that Governor Greg Abbott will see and hear them, the Governor won't be in Austin on Thursday. According to the Governor's office, he will be in Washington.

This isn't the first time LGBT activists have used a dance party as a way of protest. Activists held a dance party outside of Mike Pence's home before he was sworn in as Vice President.
