The 90-year-old man who reportedly exchanged gunfire with Lubbock police has been arrested.

Willie John Williams has been charged with Aggravated Assault against a Public Servant, after shooting at police officers, as he apparently believed someone was breaking into his apartment early Sunday.

The officers were called to the Parkridge Place apartments to investigate a reported burglary in progress at the unit next to Williams’ apartment.

One officer suffered minor wounds from flying glass due to Williams’ gunfire, and Williams was shot in the chest, but has since been treated at University Medical Center.

Williams has been turned over to the custody of the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office.
