89-Year-Old John Hood Dies After Being Hit by Car While Crossing Lubbock Street

An octogenarian has died after being hit by a car while crossing a Lubbock street.

John Hood was crossing 4^th Street at Elkhart Avenue on foot just after 9:30 p.m. Thursday night, and failed to yield right of way to oncoming traffic, according to Lubbock Police.

Hood was hit by a 2013 Dodge Avenger that was traveling east on 4^th Street.

Hood was taken to University Medical Center, where he died.

The 57-year-old motorist was taken to Covenant Medical Center with minor injuries.
