On Sunday, December 20,  five people were injured following a two vehicle accident in northeast Lubbock.

According to police, the accident occurred around 2:00 p.m. at the intersection of Parkway Drive and North Guava Avenue when a black Cadillac sedan traveling northbound on Guava Avenue failed to yield the right of way to a westbound white utility truck on Parkway Drive.

All five accident victims were taken to University Medical Center. Three passengers in the Cadillac suffered minor injuries, while the front seat passenger of the Cadillac and the driver of the utility truck suffered serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Rescue crews had to use the Jaws of Life to rescue one individual from the pickup.

The names of the accident victims have not been released and authorities continue to investigate.
