A car chase in Southeast Lubbock County ended with the arrest of four people on Thursday.

The chase first began at 7:15 p.m., when a Trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety tried to stop a vehicle on US 84, east of Southland, near county road 160 in Garza County.

The vehicle in question failed to stop and sped away, continuing west through Slaton on US 84. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the chase, placing tire spikes in the roadway near FM 1585 and US 84.

The vehicle finally came to a halt and four people were initially arrested. The driver, 44-year-old Samuel Rodriguez Morales, a native of Mexico, has been charged with evading arrest with a vehicle.The three passengers of the vehicle were subsequently released.
