Smithfield Foods and United Supermarkets will donate more than 40,000 pounds of protein to South Plains Food Bank in Lubbock as part of Smithfield’s Helping Hungry Homes® initiative.

This considerable donation provides more than 160,000 servings of protein, a staple of a well-balanced meal, to people across the South Plains.

A brief press conference to help raise awareness of hunger will take place on Tuesday, August 29th at 10:30am at the South Plains Food Bank located at 5605 MLK Boulevard.

Helping Hungry Homes® is Smithfield Foods’ initiative focused on alleviating hunger and helping Americans become more food secure.

This donation is a part of the initiative’s annual nationwide tour, which will provide significant protein donations to nearly 60 food banks across the country this year.

Since 2011, Helping Hungry Homes® has provided more than 65 million servings of protein to food banks across America.
