A central Lubbock association will unveil a new bus decoration and will host a day promoting their businesses.

The 34th Street Association of Lubbock will host their “Orange Cone Kick-Off” at 10 a.m. on February 14th.

The 34th Street-decorated bus will give free rides along 34th street from 10:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Mayor Tom Martin and other City of Lubbock staff, as well as the Chamber of Commerce and Citibus will attend the event, kicking off the construction process scheduled to begin in late February.

Business owners across 34th Street are asked to come up with some sort of giveaway, discount, or coupon for anyone riding the 34th Street bus on the day of the kick-off. 34th Street business owners are asked to contact Kyra Jenkins with your plan to participate by phone at 441-7303 or by email at 34thstexec@gmail.com.

Riders will be given a postcard with information about the businesses offering any special deals during the event. The City anticipates up to 500 riders will take part in the Orange Cone Kick-Off.
