On Thursday's edition of Lubbock's First News, David Weaver of the South Plains Food Bank talked with Tom Collins and Laura Mac about the upcoming U Can Share Food Drive.

The 30th Annual U Can Share Food Drive will take place December 3rd through 8th at the United Supermarket at 82nd and Frankford. Weaver said that hunger is a very real and present problem in Lubbock, and that many people in Lubbock have either been a victim of hunger, or know someone who has been.

The South Plains Food Bank is estimated to distributed 7 to 8 million pounds of food this year. Weaver said the most desired items for donation are canned proteins, like tuna and peanut butter. However, items such as rice, beans and canned fruits and vegetables are always welcome as well.
