Supply pipeline construction will cause some traffic changes in Lubbock.

Beginning on Thursday, May 29th, the City of Lubbock and Garney Construction Company will begin construction of a large diameter water main.

The work is part of the Bailey County well field supply pipeline project.

Construction will begin on 26th Street and Iola Avenue and head west along 26th Street to Milwaukee Avenue.

26th Street will be closed beginning on June 3rd, and the closure is expected to last until July 15th.

The first phase of the project will restrict access to through traffic on 26th Street from Iola Avenue to Milwaukee Avenue except for local residents.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the construction if at all possible.
