9:12: 70 mintues into this speech and most of America has changed it to the Kardashian divorce marathon. Wait, did he just quote a portion of, Eye of the Tiger?

9:10: Are we on the Dollar General budget for the military?

9:05: "The point is, we should all want a smarter, more effective Government.  And while we may not be able to bridge our biggest philosophical differences this year, we can make real progress.  With or without this Congress, I will keep taking actions that help the economy grow."

I would love to hear what he means by effective government. Also, why doesn't he need the congress? Checks and balances are there for a reason.

Again, I bring up Keystone getting nixed. Also, he isn't mentioning the demand for oil has gone up more than we can produce. Small minded thinking again. When will PresBO mention the world "freedom"?

8:38: PresBo is trying to play it cool like Congress is the problem and demanding a bill to sign. Can we have the Senate pass a budget? We haven't had one for 1000 days.

8:36:Obama is touting comprehensive immigration reform after lying about putting more boots on the ground. He wants to speed up immigration waiting too.

8:33: More government spending on education when there isn't a legitimate plan to reform how we teach kids.Oh, hey! He will outlaw kids from dropping out of school until they graduate. I feel like this will encourage more awkward moments just like the movie Dazed and Confused.

8:29: I wonder if PresBO will apologize for selling guns to Mexico in this speech at all?

8:27: Vice President Biden looks so bored right now. Did somebody forget to bring his coloring book?

President Obama is assuming he is going to tell off China by telling them they don't play fair. Nobody will listen because you appear weak to the rest of the World.

"Tonight, I’m announcing the creation of a Trade Enforcement Unit that will be charged with investigating unfair trade practices in countries like China.  There will be more inspections to prevent counterfeit or unsafe goods from crossing our borders.  And this Congress should make sure that no foreign company has an advantage over American manufacturing when it comes to accessing finance or new markets like Russia."

Obama announces the creation of another government agency which will cost more money and likely will alienate our biggest buyer of debt, China. I can see this plan going well.

8:16:"The defining issue of our time is how to keep that promise alive.  No challenge is more urgent.  No debate is more important.  We can either settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by.  Or we can restore an economy where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same set of rules.  What’s at stake are not Democratic values or Republican values, but American values.  We have to reclaim them."

I remember that part in the constitution about fairness for all. Oh, wait. Never mind.

I wonder if he remembers the Keystone pipeline being nixed by him last week? So much for energy independence.

8:11: Speaker Boehner introduces the President. Here we go with the speech. The speech will be under 7,000 words.

8:06: President Obama has been introduced by the Sergeant at Arms and is met with applause and clapping. The usual mobbing of the President down the aisle by members of Congress and is painfully slow going. If this is any indication of how long this speech will be, we could be here awhile.
