The Texas Department of Public Safety concluded a year-long investigation into heroin distribution in the Hub City and elsewhere around the state.

DPS Troopers arrested one person at the Lubbock Lighthouse clinic, located at 13th Street and Avenue Q around 10 a.m. Thursday.

There have been nineteen arrests as a result of this investigation, which has revealed that this particular heroin distribution ring has ties to the Barrio Aztecas prison gang, as well as Mexican drug cartels.

Twelve arrests have been made in the Lubbock area, and others were made in El Paso, San Angelo, San Antonio, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

The nineteen suspects have been indicted by a Lubbock Grand Jury on fifty-four felony counts, including Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin, and Money Laundering. The names of those arrested have not yet been released.

The DPS has worked with the Lubbock County District Attorney's Office, Lubbock Police Department, and the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department on the case.

Video of the arrest is included below.
