113 Wrecks Between 7 to 10 a.m. Wednesday

Light snow and ice on roadways meant a busy morning for Lubbock police.

According to Sergeant Jonathan Stewart with the Lubbock Police Department, around 113 wrecks occurred between the hours of 7 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10^th.

The temperature in Lubbock overnight dipped to around 26 degrees, tying the city’s record low for April 10^th.

According to the National Weather Service, the average last freeze date for Lubbock is April 9^th. The earliest last freeze for the Hub City was March 4^th, 2012, and the latest was set on May 8^th, 1938.

Temperatures are expected to climb near 46 degrees for Wednesday and a low of around 30 degrees overnight. Thursday’s high is expected to be near 66 degrees.

Temperatures in Lubbock are expected to steadily climb back into the eighties by Sunday.
