Light snow and ice on roadways meant a busy morning for Lubbock police.

According to Sergeant Jonathan Stewart with the Lubbock Police Department, around 113 wrecks occurred between the hours of 7 to 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 10th.

The temperature in Lubbock overnight dipped to around 26 degrees, tying the city’s record low for April 10th.

According to the National Weather Service, the average last freeze date for Lubbock is April 9th. The earliest last freeze for the Hub City was March 4th, 2012, and the latest was set on May 8th, 1938.

Temperatures are expected to climb near 46 degrees for Wednesday and a low of around 30 degrees overnight. Thursday’s high is expected to be near 66 degrees.

Temperatures in Lubbock are expected to steadily climb back into the eighties by Sunday.
