Ten Lubbock ISD students have been recognized by a national organization. The students were recognized by the National Hispanic Recognition Program as scholars for their 2011 PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and grade point average.

Each year, the organization recognizes 5,000 students of the highest-scoring students from a pool of 200,000 high school juniors in the United States and U.S. territories.

The NHRP recognized Coronado High School students Gabriel Gonzales and Taylor Reasoner. The Lubbock High students are Florencio Barron, Abel Castro, Carlos Cruz, Madeleine Flores, Alexa Gomez, Hallie Looney, Jeremy Medrano and Elizabeth Moreno.
