Residents of Ventura Place, a senior living and retirement community facility located near Gary Avenue and 50th Street in Lubbock, were evacuated yesterday (Wednesday) when Lubbock Fire Rescue and EMS responded to a two-alarm fire.

Crews responded to a fire on the 3rd story, but the fire was already put out by the sprinkler system. The 2nd and 3rd floors with still filled with smoke, however.

140 residents were evacuated, and one personal was transported via EMS to University Medical Center for minor smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
